My husband, Bob and I decided to try Tai Chi. We had read an article a while ago about the energy and good health people gain from Tai Chi, and the longevity of many people who practice this as a regular part of their exercise program. We also thought it would be good for us as my husband is 60 and I am 51. This, we thought, would be something we could take into our old age.
We met Owen Liao through his very thorough and helpful website, and booked our 8 sessions right away. At our very first class, we saw the benefits of Tai Chi. We thought we had pretty good posture as Bob practices yoga, walks and I lift weights, I do cardio exercises regularly and have a background in vocal music and theatre. However, we found out that our walking was all wrong! By the end of the first session, we felt we were on our way to correcting this.
We have not learned the entire set of 15 moves yet, but as we practice Tai Chi we feel it is like poetry in motion. I am a theatre person and have taken dance. I can relate to the dance-like quality of some of the graceful motions. Owen relates certain moves in the Tai Chi set to dance moves, which helps me understand better. My husband is hoping that Tai Chi will help with some tension that he has carried around for years.
Taking Tai Chi with Owen has been a positive step in the right direction for Bob and me, not only for the energy and movement, but also for the calmness, stress release and focus we hope to gain.
We highly recommend Owen’s Eastern Healing Center for anyone interested in Tai Chi.
